A Sarasota man was arrested on Thanksgiving after deputies say he rear-ended two cars stopped at a red light around 5 p.m. on U.S. Route 41 and Murdock Circle in Port Charlotte.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office says that TW, 37, was in a “daze” and that they could smell alcohol coming from his car, where they found an open Jack Daniel’s liquor bottle.
They said W started acting erratically and was hostile towards the other drivers involved in the crash, accusing them of trying to “collect a check” and yelling racial slurs.
One victim in the crash was taken to the hospital.
W was taken to the hospital to be medically cleared and then was arrested. He faces charges of DUI, refusing to submit to DUI testing, three counts of DUI damage to property/person, and violation of probation.
