A significant incident unfolded on Wednesday in Madison County, resulting in the tragic death of a pedestrian and necessitating the closure of the westbound lanes on I-10.
The accident occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. on the westbound stretch of I-10, near mile marker 249.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a semi-truck was traveling in the outermost lane of I-10 in the westbound direction when it collided with a pedestrian who was walking alongside the road. Regrettably, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries and was declared deceased at the scene, as confirmed by FHP.
The closure of the affected section of I-10 persisted until approximately 5:51 p.m.
