Emergency crews extricated one person from a vehicle when a tractor-trailer and pickup collided Monday morning on W. Newberry Road in Gainesville.

According to an Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) release, the crash occurred at 9:45 a.m. at the 16200 block of W. Newberry Rd.

ACFR and Newberry Fire Department crews arrived to find the pickup occupant trapped and both the east and westbound lanes blocked on W. Newberry Road. Fuel was also leaking from the pickup.

Firefighters used the “jaws of life” to remove the pickup occupant, who was transported via ambulance to a local hospital in stable condition.
