A vehicle fire on Florida’s Turnpike caused significant delays near Boynton Beach on Monday afternoon, blocking two right southbound lanes before Mile Marker 85.

According to Florida 511, the incident was first reported at 1 p.m. with crews arriving to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames on the shoulder. A CBS12 News reporter passing the scene recorded Palm Beach County Fire Rescue extinguishing the remnants of the trailer.

Traffic cameras in the area showed smoke drifting across the roadway as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries have been reported at this time, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The blockage led to an “intermediate” traffic impact, with congestion quickly building behind the scene as drivers slowed to navigate the remaining open lanes. Officials updated the situation at 1:03 p.m., warning drivers to expect delays while emergency crews continued their response.

Motorists traveling through the area were advised to use caution and consider alternate routes until the scene is cleared.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
