Fort Walton Beach Police Department officers, along with Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies, arrested a suspect after shots were fired near a school on Monday.
According to a FWBPD news release, they received multiple calls about shots being fired near Lovejoy Road and Burnette Avenue.
The shots being fired led the Okaloosa Academy Charter School to go into lockdown “within moments,” according to the release.
“In a joint effort between Okaloosa County deputies and Fort Walton Beach police officers, the fleeing suspect was tracked and swiftly taken into custody without incident,” read the release.
Officials said there is no remaining threat to the public.
