A man was arrested for battery after allegedly attacking his mother when she confronted him for drinking all their juice.
Officers responded to a family disturbance at an undisclosed Leesburg residence at 5:10 p.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The mother of 21-year-old DLG advised that he was yelling and breaking things.
Upon arrival, the officers evaluated G for a law enforcement Baker Act. He did not meet the criteria, so they started to leave. As they walked out at 5:48 p.m., his mother ran back out of the residence to meet them in the driveway and stated G had just battered her, the report said.
She had confronted him for drinking the rest of the juice in the residence, and when questioned, he irately stated he did it because she was “a dumb (derogatory term).” As she walked into a hallway, he attacked her, the report said.
G lowered his shoulder to slam it into her chest and torso area, which pushed her into the wall. He also punched his mother with a closed fist and struck her with his elbow, both in the stomach area repeatedly. She started screaming for help, and he finally allowed her to pass by him in the hallway. She then left the residence, flagged down the officers and told them what happened, the report said.
The officers went back into the residence and looked at the mother’s injuries. She had several red marks on her stomach and left elbow. There was a fist-sized hole in the drywall in the hallway, consistent with what the victim described as G’ destructive behavior, the report said.
G was subsequently arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and transported to Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000.
