A Lake County teen was arrested for battery after allegedly hitting his brother in the face during an altercation.
A deputy responded to a domestic disturbance at an undisclosed Lake County residence around 4:20 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, he met with the brother of 18-year-old TJK.
The brother was in his autistic brother’s room on the phone when K kicked down his door after he started a verbal altercation. K then hit him in the face. The brother defended himself, and their younger brother broke up the altercation, the report said.
K confirmed that he and his brother had an altercation. He was trying to help their mother build something for their sister when his brother started yelling. He pushed the door open after his brother slammed it in his face, which led to the physical confrontation. He had a visible mark on his face, the report said.
Their mother explained she was upstairs working on a project when she heard yelling. She mentioned the brother had a history of being disrespectful. She added that the door was already damaged due to her autistic son’s behavior, the report said.
The deputy tried to speak with the autistic son, but his mother was not cooperative and did not allow him to. She gave a detailed account of the family’s history and challenges they face due to the disabilities of her children, the report said.
Based on the statements and injuries, K was determined to be the primary aggressor. During his arrest, he resisted, and additional force was needed to secure him, the report said.
K was charged with simple battery (domestic) and resisting officer without violence. He was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,500 bond.
