St. Lucie firefighters contain house fire in Fort Pierce

St. Lucie County firefighters controlled an early morning house fire in Fort Pierce on Saturday.

Just after 2 a.m., St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) arrived at the scene of a house fire at the 1800 block of N. 17th Street.

According to SLCFD, the single-story home had flames engulfing the rear of the residents.

Firefighters say they controlled the fire and searched for injured victims.

No victims were transported to the hospital, and the Red Cross was called in to assist.

The cause of the fire is being investigated at this time.
