St. Pete motorcyclist dies after losing control of vehicle, veering off road, police say

A motorcyclist in St. Pete died on Tuesday after losing control of the vehicle and hitting a road sign, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.

Around 6:33 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, police said they responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision at 108th Ave N and 61st St. N.

Upon arrival they discovered that a motorcycle traveling south on 61st St. N had apparently lost control and veered off the road, colliding with a road sign and a vehicle parked nearby.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital where, police said, he died due to his injuries.

Police noted that the crash did not appear to be caused by impairment or speeding.
