St. Pete Police: Man hit by alleged drunk driver dies

The 37-year-old man who was hit by a driver who was suspected to be under the influence has died, police said.

MA, 34, was driving a red Chrysler minivan just after 8 p.m. Wednesday on Dali Boulevard South East when he lost control and swerved into two bicycle lanes. He hit a statue, a light pole, and PM, who was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Officials said M was working in the median lane by putting down flags for a Grand Prix monument. 

He died early Tuesday morning at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital.

Aoun remained on the scene and police determined he was under the influence. He was charged with DUI causing serious injury and reckless driving causing bodily injury. Additional charges are pending, according to a news release.
