St. Pete woman stalked by ex, nearly killed in overnight attack: police

A man was arrested Monday night following reports that he stalked and tried to kill his ex-girlfriend, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Investigators said they had been “working nonstop” to build evidence against the suspect, PG, 27, of Trinity, since the May 10 attack.

Police believe G traveled to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on 4th Street North in St. Pete early that morning, around 1:43 a.m. He then attacked his ex in the parking lot, leaving her hospitalized with a severe head injury, officials said.

Detectives learned the victim had an active injunction for protection against G due to a history of domestic violence, and by May 19, said they had enough evidence to arrest him on multiple charges.

St. Pete and Pasco County detectives found G at his home in Trinity around 11:37 p.m. Monday. He was taken into custody for attempted first-degree homicide and aggravated stalking, authorities said.

He was being held at the Pasco County Jail and authorities said Tuesday G would soon be taken to Pinellas County to face his charges.
