St. Petersburg man charged with first-degree murder months after shooting, killing tenant: deputies

A St. Petersburg man was arrested Thursday after Pinellas County deputies said he shot and killed a tenant who was living on his property.

Deputies said they were called to 68th Street North on Dec. 15 for reports of a dead person.

A 911 caller, later identified as 53-year-old JB, told deputies that the victim was his tenant and lived in a detached shed on the property.

When deputies arrived, they found 32-year-old AR suffering from several gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

B told detectives that he had no idea who would want to harm R. He also said he had just arrived home after he was released from jail and found R dead on the living room floor.

During their investigation, detectives said they located evidence linking B to the murder.

B was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Thursday. He was taken to the Pinellas County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
