Stolen car rams into police officer before crashing in Palm Bay

A stolen car rammed into an officer after fleeing from police in Palm Bay on Friday afternoon, according to the department.

In a release, police said that the Flock Safety camera system alerted officers to the stolen car heading through the city around 1:44 p.m.

“Upon locating the vehicle, it fled from our officers, and a pursuit was not initiated,” the release reads.

Police explained that they once again encountered the stolen vehicle a short while later, though this time, it rammed into one of the officers.

This sparked a chase, and the stolen car ultimately crashed along Malabar Road east of Babcock Street, the release states.

However, police assured that no citizens were injured during the chase.

No additional information has been provided at this time, including the identity of the driver in the stolen vehicle.
