A Summerfield teen was arrested for assault after allegedly throwing several alcoholic drinks at her boyfriend when he could not fix her car.
A deputy was in the area of 183rd Avenue Road and East Hwy. 40 in Summerfield trying to find a gray pickup truck around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. A suicide threat had been called in regarding the driver, the boyfriend of 19-year-old BL whom he had been dating for close to a year.
The deputy ultimately found a gray GMC Sierra heading southbound on 183rd Avenue Road and stopped it to investigate. When speaking with the boyfriend, he was visibly upset due to having a huge argument with Lbecause he was not able to fix her car, the report said.
He explained that when he got into his truck to leave the incident location, L’s home at Southeast 162nd Place, she grabbed a red BuzzBall from the ground and threw it in his truck. She also picked up a Smirnoff orange can and threw it at his truck, again in his direction, the report said.
Both alcoholic beverages missed the boyfriend, but the orange can exploded and spilled liquid throughout the backseat of his truck. The Buzzball was later found on the driver’s side floorboard of the truck with dents on the rim. The orange can sat between the driver’s seat and center console with dents and a hole in it. Fresh orange liquid was splashed onto a blanket, the rear driver’s side window and backseats, the report said.
After speaking to L at her residence, she admitted throwing the can at the boyfriend. But she claimed it was only in his direction, not at him, the report said.
L was subsequently arrested for simple assault (domestic) and transported to Marion County Jail to be held without bond.
