A Summerfield woman has died in a single-vehicle crash near The Villages.
The 44-year-old was driving a car at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday on SE 47th Avenue near County Road 42 near the Marion County section of The Villages when she traveled over a hill and lost control of her vehicle, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Her vehicle went airborne, overturned and struck a tree.
The woman was transported to an area hospital where she died of injuries suffered in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
