Surveillance cameras captured a powerful crash Thursday morning in Southwest Miami-Dade that left at least one person in the hospital and left a mess outside a home.
The incident happened at 2:56 am, when district deputies responded to a traffic accident between SW 147th Ave. and SW 160th St., the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) said.
The video shows the aftermath of the terrible accident: two vehicles left with their front halves completely destroyed.
The impact of the crash was so strong, it also took out a palm tree, cutting it in half.
“It looked like a bomb had gone off,” YO said.
She rushed over to her parents’ home and found a mess in the front yard, a street light shattered against the ground after the crash.
The impact scattered pieces of glass and plastic across the lawn and knocked down the fence next to the house.
O said both injured drivers appeared to be men.
“It looked like the victim was coming down 147th,” she said. “He passed the light and then the other car was coming in the other direction at very high speeds and crashed into him.”
O also said undercover detectives rolled up right after the crash and yelled at a man in the smashed SUV, screaming at him to stop.
O said her parents were sleeping inside the house at the time of the crash, which even left a gash in the side of the family’s pickup truck parked in the driveway.
Authorities are still investigating, and information about the cause of the crash was not immediately revealed.
