Suspect found hiding in backyard after attacking man with knife, crowbar: SPPD

One person was hospitalized after a man stabbed him and attacked him with a crowbar, the St. Petersburg Police Department announced.

Officers responded to the 5600 block of 10th Street North at 3:30 a.m. regarding an attempted homicide.

According to SPPD, the victim was sleeping when V L, 63, rode his bike to the house and started yelling outside the bedroom window.

The victim woke up and went to the window, where L then punched through the window and stabbed the victim in the hand.

The victim then ran to a neighbor’s home while L continued to hit him with a crowbar, SPPD said.

Arriving at the home, police found L hiding in the backyard where he was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the first degree.

According to SPPD, the victim and L are long-time acquaintances.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released.
