Suspect in custody after deputy-involved incident in Gainesville

A suspect is in custody after a deputy-involved incident in Gainesville Wednesday evening.

According to Alachua County Sheriff’s officials, deputies arrived on scene in the parking lot of Bonefish Grill just before 10 p.m.

Deputies were attempting to take the suspect into custody for kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon when the suspect drew a handgun.

An ASO deputy fired at the suspect and hit the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

No civilians or deputies were injured during the incident.

ASO officials say the suspect is waiting to be transported to jail.
