Suspect in custody after vehicle burglary; car rolls into canal, Sunrise police say

A suspect was taken into custody Tuesday morning after a vehicle burglary ended with the car rolling into a canal in Sunrise, authorities said.

According to Sunrise police, the vehicle burglary occurred in the 2900 block of Northwest 60th Avenue.

Police said a perimeter was established by officers and the suspect abandoned the vehicle, which rolled into a nearby canal.

The suspect, nor any others, ever entered the water, authorities said.

Police confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody.

No other details were immediately released.
