Suspect Makes Dirt Angels While Hiding From Florida Deputies

A suspect trying to flee from police was filmed making dirt angels while hiding in a construction site in Lutz, Florida, on Saturday, December 24.

The suspect, 34-year-old Eliezer Armando Reyes Rios, initially escaped from the scene of a car crash when deputies tried to make approach him, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).

Rios jumped a fence and hid in a dirt patch inside a nearby construction site, where the sheriff’s aviation unit spotted him from above and captured this aerial footage of lying down, making dirt angels, and chatting on the phone while in hiding.

Rios eventually got back on his feet, ran out of the site, and jumped the fence once again to find deputies and a K9 waiting on the other side, HCSO said. He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and trespassing on a construction site, among other charges. Credit: Hillsborough County Sheriff via Storyful

– [INAUDIBLE] the train tracks. We made it about– I don’t know, 200 feet down before he decided to jump over the fence. I didn’t continue with him, but we got a perimeter set up pretty quickly to lock him down. I think we got him in there.

– All right, we do have a subject just north of a tree. He’s on the southeast corner. Looks like it’s a– he’s in a culvert. You won’t be able to see him from where you’re at because it’s a culvert, I just realized. But you are right across from him.

Yeah, just so y’all know, he’s just sort of casually laying there with his arms behind his head. Definitely wearing shorts. He’s got his right arm behind his head and his left arm down by his side at the moment. We’ll let if he moves or anything happens with him.

He looks like he’s on the phone now, lifting his left hand.

All right, he’s starting to move. Yeah, he’s running. He just fell down. He’s running towards the west.

– All right, just hold your perimeter. Let’s not try to make contact. K9 is almost there.

– He’s starting to climb up and over. He’s going up and over the fence.

– Guys, get people to the Culver’s. Get people to the Culver’s. Get people out to Nebraska.

– All right, he jumped over the fence.

– Get on the ground. Shut up. Get on the ground. You’re going to get bit. Get on the ground, or you’re going to get bit. Hey, this is your final warning. Get on the ground, or you’re going to get bit. Get on the ground, or you’re going to get bit. Arms out. Arms out. Arms out.
