SUV crashes head-on into car while trying to pass semi-truck in Levy County

One person is dead and another person is wounded after three vehicles collided in Levy County on Monday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a 23-year-old woman from Williston driving an SUV headed north on State Road 121 attempted to pass a semi-truck near County Road 335, just north of Williston.

The SUV crashed head-on with a car headed south on the state road. The collision caused the SUV to rotate and hit the semi’s trailer.

The driver of the car, a 71-year-old man, was killed and the woman driving the SUV suffered serious injuries. No one else was hurt.

State troopers are conducting a traffic homicide investigation to determine if any charges are warranted.
