A 25-year-old Tampa man died after the Florida Highway Patrol said he was run over by a tractor-trailer following a crash on Interstate 75 on Tuesday morning.
According to troopers, the 25-year-old man in a Dodge 1500 attempted to pass a Chevy box truck and collided with its rear near Bruce B Downs Boulevard.
Due to the impact, the Dodge 1500 overturned multiple times, and the driver was ejected.
Troopers said the driver was thrown into the center lanes of I-75 and was struck by a tractor-trailer.
The 25-year-old driver died at the scene.
All northbound lanes on I-75 were closed for several hours due to the crash.
