Tampa Police: 5 arrested after shooting, pursuit

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa police arrested five people late Monday after a traffic stop was followed by gunshots fired and a police pursuit.

Authorities said around 8 p.m., officers in an unmarked unit observed a reckless vehicle driving northbound on N 43rd St from E Hanna Ave.

While attempting a traffic stop, officers observed gunfire directed at them from the suspect vehicle.

Officers engaged in a brief pursuit that ended in the area of N 53rd St and Nancy St, where the suspect vehicle came to a stop.

Five suspects fled but were quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

Officers did not return fire and there were no injuries.
