A Tampa police officer was arrested on Friday and placed on administrative leave after a domestic violence investigation, according to authorities.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, deputies responded to Brandon Regional Hospital where a woman was being treated for injuries consistent with physical battery.
Detectives said they determined the injuries were the result of an altercation between the victim and SB, 47.
Detectives reported that B struck the victim by slapping, punching, and kicking her and placed her in a headlock that restricted her ability to breathe.
HCSO’s Domestic Violence detectives conducted interviews with the victim and witnesses, which led to them obtaining an arrest warrant for B.
On Friday, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested B following his release from a local facility. He will be transported to Orient Road Jail.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, B has been charged with domestic battery by strangulation, domestic violence battery, and false imprisonment.
B was employed with the Tampa Police Department since September 2007 and served as a U.S. Army Reserve Criminal Investigations Division Special Agent. He had been on military deployment since March and was due to return next month.
According to TPD, B has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
