Teen allegedly punches and chokes fiancé during verbal spat turned physical

A Leesburg teen was arrested for allegedly punching and choking his fiancé during an argument that he would not let her leave.

An officer responded to a disturbance involving 19-year-old B.R. at an undisclosed Leesburg residence, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Upon arrival, the officer met with R’s fiancé who advised that he was not letting her leave their home. She stated they were just in a physical altercation that day, but there was a verbal argument that turned physical the other night, the report said.

She explained that on Aug. 31, they were arguing while she packed her things to leave. He was not letting her leave and yelled at her. During this, he punched her right arm. She tried to walk away, and he grabbed her by the neck, choked her and pushed her head into the cabinets, the report said.

The fiancé could not breathe for the first few seconds. Once R let her go, he hid her keys and stood in the doorway so she could not get past him. She added that they had been living together for several months, the report said.

While speaking with her, the officer did not see any marks or bruising on her due to the altercation happening nine days before. She instead showed a photo where R had hit her, leaving a bruise on her right shoulder. The officer later noticed a faint bruise in the same area as the photo, the report said.

The officer then talked to R. He admitted they had been arguing that day, and altercations had turned physical in the past. He knew one such incident happened about two weeks ago, the report said.

R also advised that he tried his hardest to refrain from their arguments from becoming physical, but they did. He and his fiancé both battered each other in the past, the report said.

He was ultimately arrested on charges of false imprisonment (adult – domestic), simple battery (domestic) and battery by strangulation (domestic). He was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $10,000 bond. \
