Teen arrested for concealed weapon after fight at Town Center Mall in Boca Raton

An 18-year-old was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon during an altercation that sparked fears of gunfire among shoppers at the Town Center at Boca Raton on a Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday afternoon, the Boca Raton Police Department (BRPD) reported responding to reports of a fight and possible gunshots at the Town Center mall’s food court.

According to BRPD, the call came in around 2:30 p.m., and officers who were already in the mall arrived on the scene.

BRPD said that police made contact with SFA, who was present during the fight.

A allegedly told officers that he was with family members but was standing apart when he witnessed a fight between several unknown males. He stated that after the fight, three of the males approached him in an aggressive manner.

BRPD said that feeling threatened, A lifted up his shirt to show a firearm tucked in his waistband. At this point, mall staff intervened, causing the three males to flee the area.

A told BRPD that he never removed the firearm or fired it during the incident.

After reviewing surveillance footage, authorities reported that there was no evidence of a shooting having occurred.

However, A was arrested for possessing a concealed weapon, as he is under the legal age of 21. He was subsequently taken to the Palm Beach County Jail.
