A 17-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday following a hit-and-run crash that left a woman hospitalized, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced.
On Tuesday evening, deputies responded to a crash at the intersection of CR-579 and Clay Pit Road in Mango.
A female victim was found on the ground with facial injuries and a possible broken leg. She was taken to a Tampa hospital for treatment.
The suspected driver was believed to be in a black Honda and after a search of the area, the vehicle was seen pulling into a neighborhood.
Deputies pulled the teen over, who admitted to being the driver of the vehicle. He was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury.
“Thanks to the hard work of our deputies, this suspect was quickly identified and taken into custody. Anyone who thinks they can flee the scene of a crash and escape responsibility should think again,” Sheriff CC said. “We will continue to pursue justice for victims and make it clear that reckless actions like this will not be tolerated in Hillsborough County.”
The incident remains an active investigation.
