Teen charged in deadly Clearwater crash was ‘rushing to get home between classes’: police.

A Safety Harbor teen was charged with vehicular homicide on Monday after a 71-year-old man was killed in a rollover crash in Pinellas County earlier this year.

The Clearwater Police Department said Tyler Graham, 19, was recklessly driving a 2010 Toyota Tacoma on Jan. 26, speeding and changing lanes on U.S. 19 at Seville Boulevard when he struck another vehicle, causing it to flip over.

Police said the passenger in that car, Stephen Douglas De-Meza of Dunedin, died after being taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa.

Graham allegedly told officers after the crash that he had been driving 80 to 85 miles per hour because he was “rushing to get home between classes.”

The 19-year-old was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on Saturday, the police department said.
