Teen injured in shooting on Jacksonville’s Northside

A teenager was injured in a shooting Thursday night on Jacksonville’s Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Officers responded at about 8:19 p.m. to Fish Eagle Drive West near Yellow Bluff Road after receiving calls about a person being shot. Shortly afterward, a victim in his late teens arrived at a local hospital with an apparent gunshot wound. JSO said the calls and hospital report are related.

The teen is cooperating with the investigation, according to JSO. Detectives said shell casings were recovered at the scene.

The suspect remains unknown. Multiple people were detained at the scene, but JSO has not announced any arrests or charges.

Crime Scene Detectives were processing the area for evidence. Detectives with the Robbery and Violent Crime Unit were interviewing witnesses, searching for surveillance video and following up on investigative leads.

JSO said the shooting appears to be isolated and that there is no indication it was domestic- or gang-related. There were no other reported businesses or residences struck by gunfire. The crime scene remained active late Thursday night.
