A teenager died in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday night in Arlington, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police said they are still looking for the driver responsible for hitting and killing the teenager. They also said they believe the crash happened between 7:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.
According to JSO, evidence suggests the teenager was walking on Arlington Road near Matthews Bridge when a vehicle ran over a curb, struck her, and hit a fence. The driver left the scene without reporting the crash or helping the teenager.
Homicide detectives are working to obtain video surveillance. So far, no description of the vehicle involved in the crash has been released.
This is the 125th traffic fatality in Duval County this year and the 29th involving a pedestrian.
