Teen pistol-whipped at DeBary park, deputies say

A 17-year old said he was pistol whipped at a park in DeBary on Sunday evening, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said two 17-year-olds, a boy and a girl, were at the park at Lazio Circle and Kalin Street around 7:45 p.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, a man approached the teens along with two women –and assaulted the boy “by hitting him in the head with a handgun.”

Deputies said the teen was treated for a laceration to his head.

The suspect has not been identified and limited information has been provided, including what factors may have led to the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

The investigation is ongoing.
