Teen riding electric bike seriously injured in crash in Wilton Manors

A 17-year-old who was riding an electric bike in Wilton Manors Thursday was seriously injured in a crash involving another vehicle, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials confirmed.

The crash was reported in the area of North Andrews Avenue and Northwest 29th Street.

FLFR officials said the teen was struck by the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries. FLFR medics transported the teen to Broward Health Medical Center’s trauma center.

Wilton Manors police confirmed that a portion of the roadway was shut down after the crash, with only one lane open going north and one open going south.

Local 10 received reports that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the crash, but police have not yet confirmed that information.
