Teen shot during alleged home invasion in Tampa; charges pending

An alleged home invasion in Tampa left a teenager hospitalized Sunday afternoon.

Officers with the Tampa Police Department said they received reports of a shooting at a home on 109th Avenue around 3:36 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1.

A preliminary investigation reportedly revealed that the suspect, a boy in his mid-teens, “unlawfully entered” the home when there was a confrontation with another teen inside.

The teen resident then shot the suspect, police said. The suspect took off afterward, but officers said they later found him nearby with a gunshot wound.

Authorities said the boy was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition as of Sunday night.

One firearm was recovered from the home, and police said charges are pending in the case. No further information was immediately available.
