Teenage girl dies after being struck by vehicle week before Thanksgiving

A teenage girl is dead after being struck by a Dodge Challenger the week before Thanksgiving.

According to the Boynton Beach Police Department (BBPD), officers responded to a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash near West Gateway Boulevard at around 7 p.m. on November 21.

The police department’s investigation revealed that a Dodge Challenger was driving west on West Gateway Boulevard when Melissa Milan, 14, stepped onto the roadway and attempted to cross the street. It led to the teenage girl being struck by the vehicle, BBPD says. Following the crash, the intersection of Gateway Boulevard and Congress Avenue closed.

BBPD says a good Samaritan stopped to render aid and initiated CPR until Boynton Beach Fire Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and transported her to the Delray Medical Center.

On Saturday, November 29, Milan died from her injuries. The investigation is ongoing, police say.
