Three men charged after shooting incident and fleeing law enforcement in Chipley

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received several calls about gunshots in the area of Church Street and Deermont Circle in Chipley on Thursday.

Authorities said the incident happened shortly after 6 p.m. A witness said he and several others were in the yard when they observed three individuals standing near a Kia parked across the street at a resident. The witness reported the individual produced firearms and began shooting in his direction and others present.

According to a news release, 21 shell castings from the scene were recovered and multiple rounds struck an occupied building and the driver’s door of the witnesses’ vehicle.

After firing, the suspects fled the scene in a white Kia Soul prompting a “BOLO” alert.

Deputies located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop leading to a high-speed pursuit that ended when the Kia crashed, officials wrote.

Two occupants were detained, they were identified as driver JaMarion Pride and passenger Keante Pride.

A nearby resident said one of the suspects’ description entered her yard asking to borrow shoes and make a phone call. The individual was identified as Nassir Wright, who reportedly sought a ride to Fort Walton Beach before leaving the area on foot.

Officers later detained Wright who matched the description provided by other witnesses.

Investigators said they found a loaded AK-47-style magazine and loose ammunition inside the suspect vehicle. A firearm was reportedly located along the pursuit route and believed to be involved.

All men were charged with all traffic-related offenses, including the driver fleeing and eluding LEO at high speed.
