Traffic crash on Highway 22 prompts detour in Bay County

UPDATE AS OF 8 PM: One person is in critical condition after a head-on crash in Callaway. It happened just after 6 p.m.

Bay County Sheriff’s deputies said one car apparently hit the other nearly head-on, and both vehicles sideswiped each other. Paramedics took one of the drivers to the hospital with what authorities described as critical but non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are responding to a traffic crash on Highway 22 and North Kimbrel Avenue.

According to a news release, eastbound traffic is being redirected down Kimbrel to Cherry, and all westbound redirected down Comet to Cherry.

It’s unknown how long the temporary detour will last, BCSO officials wrote.
