A driver was hospitalized on Thursday following a crash with an ambulance in Marion County, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.

In a release, MCFR announced that the crash happened at the intersection of Southwest Highway 484 and Marion Oaks Pass. The crash involved a pickup truck and an ambulance.

While there were no patients on board the ambulance at the time of the crash, an EMT and a paramedic were in the vehicle, MCFR officials said. Both were evaluated at the scene and refused further treatment.

The pickup truck driver was rescued from the vehicle and taken to the hospital as a trauma alert, the release shows.

“Florida Highway Patrol will have to deem who was at fault,” MCFR officials said. “Our crew was not cited in the accident.”
