CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —
A two-vehicle crash caused a pickup truck to collide with a transformer along Placida Road in Charlotte County.
The crash happened shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday. According to the Englewood Area Fire Control District, a white pickup truck struck a gray Ford. The pickup truck then crashed into a large transformer.
The transformer ruptured and leaked an estimated 1,300 gallons of cooling oil, and Florida Power & Light crews were called to mitigate the spill and make repairs.
Fire officials said the driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital for further evaluation, and both occupants of the Ford were treated on the scene for minor injuries.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and Charlotte County Public Safety also responded to the scene.
