Turnpike lanes reopen after vehicle fire near Wildwood

Traffic is moving again after a vehicle fire on the Florida Turnpike in Sumter County forced lanes to be temporarily shut down on Saturday, according to the sheriff’s office.

All northbound lanes were shut down around noon in the area of mile marker 307/308, near Wildwood, as emergency crews could be seen on traffic cameras responding to the scene.

The leftmost travel lane had been reopened the cameras showed, with the sheriff’s office issuing an update saying as much around 1 p.m.

Cameras show all lanes open and traffic moving freely around 6 p.m.
