Two-alarm fire destroys house in Gibsonton near U.S. Highway 41

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews battled a two-alarm fire at a two-story home in Gibsonton on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters said the emergency communications dispatch center received several 911 calls reporting a fire at a home located at 12687 South U.S. Highway 41.

When firefighters arrived at the home, they found heavy fire conditions, with nearby homes threatened by radiant heat.

According to HCFR, operations were temporarily challenged by live electrical wires at the scene.

Once TECO de-energized the power lines, firefighters continued to battle the flames.

A second alarm was requested to bring additional personnel and equipment to assist with operations, HCFR said.

Crews took about an hour to get the fire under control.

No one was hurt.

U.S. Highway 41 was closed while firefighters battled the blaze. The road has since been reopened.
