Two arrested, facing multiple charges related to shooting 7-year-old child

 A man and woman have been arrested in relation to a shooting involving a 7-year-old child with a gunshot wound.

According to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, on August 9, authorities responded to calls of shots being fired in the area along 15th Street in Panama City. It was then learned that a 7-year-old was at a nearby hospital for a gunshot wound.

BCSO says a further investigation revealed a man confronted his ex-girlfriend in a public establishment, leading her to leave with her young children. The man then followed them in his car.

Authorities say he then tried to run the family off the road unsuccessfully before firing shots towards the car. The man shot the vehicle and struck a child in the backseat.

The woman called for help and took her child to the hospital for immediate care. BCSO says, the 7-year-old is recovering from the injuries.

The suspect identified as, SU, left the area, with his vehicle left in Callaway. Authorities worked to find U, obtaining warrants,

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division saw U leave an apartment in Callaway where BCSO CID, BCSO SWAT, and the United States Marshal Service performed a vehicle take-down.

BCSO says he was then taken until custody and had narcotics.

According to authorities, RB, 31, of Panama City, gave U a ride out of the area of the shooting and let him stay to keep him from capture. B aided Uin disposing of the firearm used in the shooting, BCSO says.

• Discharge A Firearm into an occupied conveyance

• Tampering With Evidence

• Grand Theft Of A Firearm

• Felon In Possession Of A Firearm

• Possession of Fentanyl

• Possession of Hydrocodone

• Possession of OxyContin

• Possession of Methamphetamine

• Possession of Marijuana less than 20 grams

• Hit and Run, leaving the scene of an accident

• Accessory after the fact to a 2nd degree felony

• Violation of probation

• Possession of marijuana less than 20 grams
