Two cats die in house fire in Alachua County

A woman was taken to the hospital after her home caught on fire in Alachua County on Thursday afternoon.

Alachua County Fire Rescue officials say a fire started in the kitchen while a woman was cooking in her home off State Road 45 in High Springs, north of Tilliman Acres.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries caused by exposure to the fire.

Firefighters say two cats died in the blaze, and one remains missing as of this report.
