Two children ages 7 and 4 were killed in a wreck with a tractor trailer Sunday evening on I-10 in Walton County.

It happened around 5:50 p.m. on I-10 east near mile marker 86.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old Bonifay man was driving an SUV with two passengers — a 7-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy — when he rear-ended a tractor trailer in front of him.

The SUV then overturned several times in the median.

A second tractor trailer then rear-ended the first tractor trailer.

The eastbound lanes were completely blocked as crews worked the scene, while the westbound lane reduced to one lane.

“Florida Highway Patrol’s Commercial Motor Vehicle and Traffic Homicide teams are on scene conducting a comprehensive investigation. Walton County Sheriff’s Office is assisting as well,” FHP says in a release.

The tractor trailer drivers were not injured.

The 34-year-old man suffered serious injuries.

No further details have been released.
