Two Clay County deputies were taken to a hospital Thursday evening after being attacked by dogs, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputies were responding to a service call on Foxtail Avenue in Middleburg, CCSO said, when they were attacked by “multiple dogs.” The exact number was not immediately disclosed.
One deputy reportedly suffered significant, but non-life-threatening injuries, while the other had minor injuries.
The sheriff’s office said it was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the wider community.
First Coast News is working to learn the current status of the dogs, as well as how the attack began.
The investigation is ongoing.
