Two die in pickup vs. school bus on US 19 in Levy County

Two people in Levy County were killed in a crash involving a school bus on Wednesday morning.

Levy County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash near the intersection of US Highway 19 and State Road 24 in Otter Creek around 6 a.m.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a pickup truck was headed west on SR 24 and veered into the southbound lanes of the intersection. A school bus headed south on US 19 “T-boned” the truck that had violated its right-of-way.

The two people inside the truck, a 76-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman, both from Otter Creek, were killed in the crash.

No children were inside the bus at the time of the crash and the bus driver was treated for minor injuries.
