Two injured after car crashes into Delray Beach thrift shop

Two people were taken to a hospital Thursday, Feb. 22 after a car crashed into a thrift shop in Delray Beach. 

The crash happened at 1 p.m. at the thrift shop, part of Lake Ida Plaza at the corner of Lake Ida Road and North Congress Avenue.

A gray BMW 3-Series sedan ran over the sidewalk and through the storefront, pictures provided by the Delray Beach Police showed. Photos also showed about three-fourths of the vehicle in the store and firefighters at the scene. 

Two people inside the shop suffered minor injuries. The driver was not hurt. 

The building is connected to Oxford Academy, a preschool and daycare center, but no children or employees were affected by the crash. On its other side is Riot Hair Lounge. 

Delray Beach police are investigating the cause of the crash.
