Two people struck by lifeguard vehicle at Nokomis Beach

The Sarasota County Fire Department said that they responded to an incident on Nokomis Beach near the North Jetty at 4:46 p.m. on Friday, April 18.

Officials stated that a Sarasota County Fire Department Lifeguard vehicle struck two people on the beach.

Lifeguards provided aid to the individuals until Sarasota County Fire Department firefighters arrived.

Sarasota County Fire Department leaders were in contact with both families immediately after the incident to check on the individuals and offer support to the families.

The Sarasota County Fire Department is fully cooperating with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

SCSO is currently conducting an active and ongoing crash investigation into this incident.
