Two people were seriously injured in a crash Friday afternoon in Escambia County.

A woman lost control of her vehicle, striking a utility pole and privacy fence near Zane Grey Lane, about a mile east of Highway 29, according to NorthEscambia.com.

A young girl and the woman sustained serious injuries.

Firefighters and special operations squads conducted an extended extrication to free the woman from the vehicle, utilizing multiple sets of the Jaws of Life and hydraulic rams to remove the roof and doors and push the dashboard, according to NorthEscambia.com.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
