Two people, including a child, were seriously injured in a four-car crash on State Road 70 Monday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Investigators say shortly after 1 p.m., an SUV driven by a 24-year-old Sarasota man was heading east on State Road 70, approaching the intersection of Greenbrook Boulevard.
A Kia sedan, also heading east, was stopped at the red light at the intersection.
The SUV failed to stop, troopers say, hitting the sedan from the rear, pushing it into the intersection.
The SUV continued through the intersection, hitting another SUV in the left lane of Greenbrook Boulevard, which was pushed by the collision into another sedan in the right lane of Greenbrook.
The occupants in the Kia, a 56-year-old woman and a child, sustained serious injuries, troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation, the Highway Patrol said.
