Two drivers — a 16-year-old Cantonment boy and 33-year-old Flomaton man — were seriously injured in a crash Wednesday evening in Escambia County.

It happened on Highway 29 at the intersection with Quintette Road.

The collision involved a silver Subaru SUV driven by the 16-year-old and a white Hyundai sedan driven by the 33-year-old.

“The driver of the SUV failed to yield right of way from a stop sign on Quintette Road and entered the intersection,” FHP says in its crash report. “As a result, the SUV entered the path of travel of the sedan. The front of the sedan collided with the left side of the SUV.”

The sedan lost control and propelled across the south bound lanes of Highway 29. The SUV was propelled north into the grass median of Highway 29.

Both drivers were transported to a local hospital with serious Injuries.

The 16-year-old will be cited for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign.
